Acting Workshops in Los Angeles – Scene Study, Improv & Character Work

Become a Stronger, Braver, More Present Actor

At SunPath Music, our weekly acting workshops are designed to help actors of all levels develop their craft in a real performance setting. Whether you're auditioning professionally or exploring acting for the first time, these workshops are an opportunity to step on stage, take creative risks, and grow in community.

Led by Sam Druckerman — acting coach, theater director, and educator — these sessions are built to deepen your skills, unlock your emotional range, and help you craft performances that are honest, specific, and compelling.

No classroom theory. Just the real work — on your feet, under the lights.

What You’ll Do in Our Acting Workshops

Each week, we meet at the Santa Monica Playhouse to work scenes, monologues, and exercises. The structure is flexible, but focused — designed to meet you exactly where you are.

You’ll work on:

  • Scene study from plays, TV, and film
  • Monologue prep and performance
  • Script analysis and story arc breakdown
  • Improv exercises for spontaneity and presence
  • Character development and exploration
  • Vocal and physical freedom
  • Emotional connection and authenticity
  • Receiving and applying direction
  • Performance in front of peers

Each session includes constructive, personalized feedback and group support. You’ll also have the option to receive a recorded video of your scene work for review and progress tracking.

Who These Workshops Are For

  • Working actors preparing for stage or screen
  • New actors exploring the craft
  • Musicians and performers branching into acting
  • Students building their audition repertoire

What Makes These Acting Workshops Unique

These aren’t generic scene study classes. What sets them apart?

  • Live performance practice
  • In-depth feedback on character, presence, and story
  • Director-level insight from a Strasberg-trained coach
  • No ego, no judgment — just support and growth
  • A welcoming, creative, and committed community

And because I also work in music and vocal performance, I bring a multi-disciplinary perspective that strengthens your voice, body, and storytelling skills — on stage and on camera.

FAQs – Acting Workshops

  • Do I need prior acting experience?

Nope! These workshops welcome complete beginners and seasoned professionals alike.

  • How is this different from an acting class?

You’re performing every week. The learning happens on your feet, in real time, with professional direction and feedback.

  • Are these for stage or screen acting?

Both. We work with material from plays, TV, and film. You'll learn to adjust your performance based on context.

  • Can I bring my own scene or monologue?

Absolutely — or I can provide one that suits your goals and level.

  • Is there performance pressure?

There’s accountability, yes — but no judgment. It’s a growth space, not a competition.
